Hi all, Thank you for visiting our blog and I would like to extend a formal invitation to follow us on our journey in revolutionizing the hospitality industry. As a student group, we want to see this through as we are passionate about making a change and we aim to give the equal opportunity for work regardless of learning difficulty or disability. We want to encourage people with depression or any mental illness to join a work force that is team building and also stress-free from a hard and out-dated system. We are made up of different backgrounds both nationally and principles of studies, we range from studies in Business Information Systems, Commerce, Entrepreneurship to Computer Science and our span in geography is from Scotland, Czech Republic and here in Australia. The idea is to create an app which can be used by any restaurant or café, however, the main target is people with disabilities such as multiple scoliosis, learning or any mental illnesses. The App will work based on different colours as it is evidently easier to remember colours instead of a huge listing of dishes and a normal order processing should appear as so;
Employees log in using unique identifiers (barcodes to scan in), this allows less room for confusion and also there is no finger pointing if an error occurs.
Orders and dishes are colour based.
While the order is being cooked, it changes colour to orange and alerts the waiter
If the order is ready to be served, it changes colour to green and the waiter is then ready to serve the dish to the customer.
However, if there are no more supplies for a particular dish, it will disappear from the list and will leave less stress for employees to remember what is out of stock.
Once done with taking down an order, the app will relay the dishes and make sure everything is confirmed before putting it through to the kitchen.
If the employee cannot read or explain something due to their disability, they can always show their phone screen to the customer who can read through it and double check.
Once done with the meal, the app will sort the bill into separately or together and will automatically calculate the totals for the customer – this will alleviate stress from employees with a learning difficulty.
The cost of running the application is fairly low as you don’t need much hardware, it designed so you will only need a smartphone for orders, laptop to see orders both in kitchen and bars and printer to print receipt.
Work for all is an app that can deliver an easy colour co-ordinated interface that will create an environment that nurtures employees with disabilities to work collectively as a part of the team. We wish to start this social enterprise as we all equally agree that everyone has the right to work without discrimination both in recruitment selection and also while being employed. As a social enterprise, we want to be transparent that we will be making money, however, we will also aim to donate and support charities that also help our employees. We will also be blogging on our own personal blogs; Nelson, Venessa, Iva Thanks for reading! Don't forget to follow us. Nelson
